|Postcard Delivered…50 Years Later|
In 1959 Marian Trone took a trip to the Florida Everglades. While there, she mailed a postcard to her 9-year-old son in Pennsylvania. The postcard depicted a Native American wrestling an alligator. Her son never got the postcard.
Well, almost never. In July of 2009 a post office in Pennsylvania found the postcard while cleaning. It was addressed to "Master Dale Trone" in care of his grandfather, R.G. Trone. They sent it to another post office, which mailed it to an R.C. Trone, who mailed it to Hank Trone, who finally mailed it to Dale Trone, the intended recipient—50 years and four months after his mother mailed it to him. And you think your mail is slow.
Dale is now 60 years old and lives in Lakewood, CO, a retired IT professional from Proctor and Gamble. The original postcard had a 3-cent stamp on it. It was finally delivered to Dale via Priority Mail for $5.00.
It took this motherís message five decades to reach her son, but eventually it did. Sometimes when we share the Gospel we donít see any visible results, but eventually Godís message will get through, for He has promised: " so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."Isaiah 55:11
