Gorilla Rescues Boy

In 1996 a three-year-old boy fell into the gorilla exhibit at the Brookfield Zoo in Illinois. He had run ahead of his mother, somehow climbed the railing, and fell 18 feet to the exhibit’s concrete.

There were seven gorillas in the exhibit. One of them, a female named Binti—with a baby gorilla on her back—picked up the injured boy and cradled him in her arms. When another gorilla walked toward them, she turned her back protectively. Then she placed him near a door where the zookeepers could retrieve him, and emergency personnel took him to the hospital.

Isaiah 11:6-9 says the day will come when there will be peace between humans and animals. This maternal gorilla provides a glimpse of what that day may be like.
