The Final Word

Random House Webster’s College Dictionary lists new words that have entered the English language in the past several decades. For example, some new words from…

  • the 1940s: A-bomb, flying saucer
  • the 1950s: brainwash, fast-food
  • the 60s: hippie, roadie, workaholic
  • the 70s: airhead, pig-out, video game, yard sale
  • the 80s: jazzercise, Internet, drive-by, wannabe
  • the 90s: minitower, soccer mom, bad hair day
  • and since 2000: blog, login, malware, Botox

And there were many more new words for each decade. As humans, we need new words to describe new things. But God doesn’t need a new word to describe Himself. He gave the perfect Word when He gave Jesus. (John 1:1, Hebrews 1:1-3)
