A Tithing President

President Bush is apparently a tither. In April of 2006, the White House released the president's tax returns. George W. and Laura Bush's adjusted gross income for the previous year was $735,180, including about $400,000 in presidential salary and investment income. His charitable donations totaled $75,560 (to churches and groups like the American Red Cross and Salvation Army). So he gave just above ten percent of his income.  

(He paid $187,768 in federal taxes in '05, by the way.)
